Bihoro Elementary School opened as Bihoro Community School in 1900. A thatch-roofed hut at a site southwest of the current school premises was used as Bihoro Community School. Because that hut was undersized for use as a school, a new school building was constructed at the present location in 1901.
The daimyo oak on the grounds of Bihoro Elementary School is very large. Estimated to be over 200 years old, it has been standing there since before the construction of Bihoro Elementary School. Since the day the school opened, the tree has been growing while witnessing the growth of schoolchildren as well as the changes in the town.
To ensure the conservation of the daimyo oak, the town has been entrusting a tree doctor with tree care and soil improvement.
